How to size a pumping station?
The pumping station must be sized according to the maximum load.

pump well diameter:
– D400 - D600 – D900 - D1200- D1850 the volume of the pump well is determined by the
water consumption of the site. The pump pumping capacity at the site / the required
storage space affect the choice of diameter / the condition of the pump well.

pump well height:
our pump wells are “modular”. They can be delivered at different heights.
Correspondingly, their height can be increased with an extension section (height 60
m). A larger diameter extension and cover can also be used to raise the well
– f.ex the D600 pump well is “modular” – it can be delivered 220 cm – 150
cm or 77 cm high. Extension section D600 (height 600 mm). A larger
diameter (D900, D1200) riser and cover can also be used to raise the well (which provides
the exact height of the well, additional space in the upper part of the well (for the riser
part. The riser of a larger diameter remains ground or, if necessary, is primed with
cement casting. The additional space is used for installation of possible technical devices
(heater, electrical connection devices, etc.) and to facilitate maintenance of the high well).
Pump selection:
The pump selection is based on the properties of the pumped liquid, the size of the

Pumping station without or with backflow:
– no backflow, affects the operation of the pumping station so that a small amount of
water (from the pipe) always returns back to the well. The advantage is that the pipeline
cannot freeze (thereby no water remains), the purchase saves the cost of a check valve
(100-400 eur) no need to replace the check valve (need after 20-30 years). The downside is
the pumping of the water that has returned to the pump well “again”.
Often used when the distance is small (the amount of water that returns is small)
and when you want to ensure that it is not frozen.

the ground is challengingly soft, will the installation be successful in winter, when
the ground can support an excavator?
often it is easier to dig in soft ground in winter and move the machine around the
installation site, as it is more load-bearing. Winter installation (when there is frost on
the ground) may require finishing the ground installation during thawing weather
– when the frost has melted.
Thermal insulation of the pump well:
Thermal insulation is needed when the pumping station may freeze.
“Insulation-plate flexible” or, for example, “insulation-plate fixed” can be used in the pump
well; our selection includes ready-made insulation packages for the trench, cover and
shaft. In addition, an insulation cover (flexible- insulation) is available, which is installed
inside the well.
The insulation pieces can also be made from general insulation boards used for

Pump well overflow:
Pump wells are most commonly equipped with an overflow. Overflow is made with a
retrofit seal, the height and direction of which can be freely chosen. The height is
to a level where the highest water level adjusted by the overflow does not cause
problems for the operation of the sewer.
Alarm systems:
The level alarm is installed at a level before the overflow. It is possible to use a
wireless alarm or connect to the RRC system. The RRC system makes monitoring,
management and programming of the equipment easier with remote monitoring. Alarm
and reminder information, operating information for larger systems and
programming options make it easier to manage and use the equipment.
Pump well pipe connections:
We use pipe connections made of various sizes (40, 50, 63, 75, 110, 160, 200, 250 mm)
made with plastic welding or aretrofit seal. The retrofit seal is installed at the installation
site at the selected height and direction. Plastic welded pipe joints are installed in the
pump well during manufacturing at the factory. Plastic welded pipe joints are used when
the groundwater level can rise above the pipe joint.

Normal operation-related functions, i.e. pumping station inspection once
monthly (5-10 min). You can also do periodic maintenance (2-4 hours /
every 1-3 years) yourself (if you are technically proficient).
